The Gift by Joanne Clancy

It was told in the third person and although I did enjoy it I did feel it was ultimately just way to short for such a good tale.

The Gift by Joanne Clancy

Although not a fan of Casey I wouldn’t have minded finding out more about her and just having more to this book as a whole. I got lost in this book but as I went from one chapter to the next in much to quick succession and moved through the days and such at record pace I found myself eager to have Detective George find James but also know more about Julie and Shane. It was bad enough when Casey put a newborn in her bag whilst shopping for nappies and formula but after reading this I just thought get this kid back to his mother now. She smashed the full bottle of milk down on the kitchen table, and turned the television up loud to hide his cries. “Have it your own way,” she yelled, flinging him on the bed. He kicked and flailed in her arms, not understanding his hunger pains. “You must drink something.” She tried to coax him, but he was having none of it. I lost all focus in anything but getting barely 2 day old James back to his mother after reading this paragraph. I found Casey pretty worrying, not just because of what she planned to do but her frame of mind. She moves to a new town and gets a form to register her son’s birth whilst scoping out the hospital and figuring out when is the best time for her to try and bring her son home. Julie and Shane are expecting a Christmas baby and after some complications and a long labour they are greeted by their son James.Ĭasey who lost a baby recently isn’t in the best frame of mind and is determined to raise her son. This book takes place over almost the entirety of December. My husband is still giving me grief over it. I will not lie I did get engrossed in this tale and did let the dinner burn a little. I read this book in about an hour or two whilst cooking dinner and then you know eating it. This book was given to me by the author in exchange of an honest review. The Gift: A Christmas Miracle by Joanne Clancy is a very short story about Julie, Shane, Casey and baby James.
